- Turtle’s TCM Hub Has Had a Major Upgrade
I’m pleased to announce a major update to Turtle’s TCM Hub, part of the growing US ‘N’ U platform. Over recent weeks, I have undertaken an extensive project to expand the Hub by adding podcasts and videos throughout the website, transforming it from primarily a written resource into a much more interactive learning environment. The Hub already contains an extensive collection of material covering the major areas of Traditional Chinese Medicine, including TCM theory, anatomy, physiology, pathology, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, the mind, clinical specialities, the TCM industry and the emerging relationship between TCM and artificial intelligence. A major part of this latest development has been the use of Google’s NotebookLM, which has helped transform the existing material into podcast and multimedia content. This means visitors can now explore many of the ideas within the Hub not only by reading about them, but by listening and watching as well. - The Cosmic Map: Humanity's Shared Vision of a Greater Reality
One of the most remarkable discoveries to emerge from the comparative study of religion, philosophy, Indigenous knowledge, and mystical traditions is that almost every civilisation has described realities that extend beyond the physical universe. Although these descriptions differ dramatically in language, symbolism, and theology, they consistently point towards the existence of higher levels of reality inhabited by spiritual beings and accessible through transformation of consciousness. This idea forms the foundation of what I call the Cosmic Map. The Cosmic Map is not simply a map of places in the way we understand geography. It is a map of levels of reality. Rather than describing physical locations somewhere beyond the stars, it proposes that the physical universe exists within a much greater multidimensional cosmos. These dimensions are not separate universes disconnected from our own, but different states or levels of existence that coexist while remaining interconnected through the Divine Field. Each level possesses its own characteristics, forms of consciousness, and intelligent beings, yet together they form a single, integrated reality. Throughout history, humanity has attempted to describe these higher realities using the concepts available within each culture. Every civilisation has developed its own language to explain experiences of transcendence, encounters with spiritual beings, visions of heavenly worlds, and the journey of the soul. While the stories differ, the remarkable consistency of their underlying themes raises an intriguing possibility. Rather than describing entirely different realities, many traditions may be offering different perspectives of the same multidimensional cosmos. Within Christianity, Heaven is often understood as the dwelling place of God, while Jesus spoke repeatedly of the Kingdom of God as both a present spiritual reality and a future fulfilment. The Book of Revelation culminates in the vision of the New Creation, where heaven and earth are ultimately united. Judaism similarly describes Shamayim, the heavens, and Olam Ha-Ba, the World to Come, portraying reality as extending far beyond earthly existence and anticipating the restoration of creation. Islam expands this vision through its description of Jannah, Paradise, together with the Seven Heavens through which the Prophet Muhammad journeyed during the Night Journey. These heavens are not merely destinations after death but represent successive levels of divine proximity and spiritual reality. Across Asia, rich cosmological traditions developed their own sophisticated maps of higher existence. Hinduism describes a vast hierarchy of worlds, including Svarga, the heavenly realm of the devas, Brahmaloka, associated with the highest states of creation, Vaikuntha, the eternal abode of Vishnu, and Kailasa, the sacred realm of Shiva. Rather than a single heaven, these worlds represent different levels of consciousness, spiritual attainment, and divine relationship. Buddhism likewise describes numerous realms of existence, including the Deva Realms, where celestial beings reside, and the Pure Lands, realms of extraordinary purity dedicated to spiritual awakening. Jainism speaks of Siddhashila, the highest realm beyond rebirth where liberated souls exist in perfect freedom, while Sikhism describes Sach Khand, the Realm of Truth, where complete union with the Divine is realised. Traditional Chinese thought describes Tian, or Heaven, as both the highest cosmic order and the source of moral harmony. Heaven is not simply a destination after death but the living principle through which the universe is governed and human virtue finds its ultimate meaning. Indigenous traditions around the world also preserve profound understandings of multidimensional reality. Australian Aboriginal peoples describe the Dreaming, sometimes called the Everywhen, not merely as a distant past but as an eternal dimension in which creation continues to exist alongside the present world. Many traditions also speak of Sky Country, ancestral beings, and sacred landscapes where the physical and spiritual worlds continually intersect. Among the Māori of Aotearoa New Zealand, the separation of Rangi, the Sky Father, and Papa, the Earth Mother, establishes a cosmos of interconnected realms, while Te Rerenga Wairua marks the place where spirits begin their journey beyond earthly life. Hawaiian traditions describe movement between Pō, the realm of origins and spirit, and Ao, the world of light and living existence, maintaining an ongoing relationship between the ancestral and physical worlds. Ancient Egypt envisioned the Field of Reeds (Aaru), where the righteous continued an abundant existence beyond death. The Greeks spoke of Olympus, the dwelling place of the gods, alongside Elysium and the Isles of the Blessed, realms reserved for heroes and virtuous souls. Roman tradition inherited the concept of the Elysian Fields, continuing the idea that consciousness persists within higher domains of reality. The Norse envisioned a cosmos structured around multiple worlds, including Asgard, home of the gods, Valhalla, where honoured warriors gathered, and Fólkvangr, ruled by the goddess Freyja. Celtic traditions described Tír na nÓg, the Land of Eternal Youth, and Annwn, the Otherworld, places existing alongside ordinary reality yet accessible under extraordinary circumstances. Across Africa, many Indigenous traditions describe the House of Song, an ancestral realm where the wisdom and presence of those who have passed continue to influence the living. Although expressed differently from Western religious language, these traditions likewise portray existence as extending beyond the visible world. The great mystical traditions developed even more abstract descriptions of the Cosmic Map. Ancient philosophers envisioned ascending through the Celestial Spheres, while Jewish mysticism described the Four Worlds of Assiah, Yetzirah, Beriah, and Atziluth, representing progressively subtler levels of existence and divine manifestation. Gnostic writings referred to the Pleroma, the fullness of divine reality, while Plato described the Intelligible Realm, the eternal world of perfect forms beyond material existence. Many Indigenous peoples of North America describe interconnected Spirit Worlds and Sky Worlds, while the Maya spoke of Tamoanchan and multiple heavens through which divine forces operated. The Aztecs envisioned the Thirteen Heavens (Ilhuicatl), layered realms extending above the earthly world. In the Andes, the Inca recognised Hanan Pacha, the upper world of divine beings, complementing the middle and lower realms of existence. Japanese Shinto describes Takamagahara, the High Plain of Heaven, where the kami dwell and from which the divine order of the world originates. At first glance, these cosmologies appear extraordinarily diverse. Each possesses its own mythology, symbolism, sacred stories, and theological framework. Yet when examined comparatively, striking patterns begin to emerge. Nearly every tradition describes higher realms existing beyond ordinary perception. Most recognise intelligent spiritual beings inhabiting these realms. Many describe a progressive journey of consciousness, moral or spiritual development, and an ongoing relationship between the physical and the spiritual worlds. Rather than existing as isolated universes, these realities are commonly portrayed as interconnected, influencing one another through laws that transcend ordinary physical existence. The Science of the Divine Field proposes that these recurring patterns are not merely historical curiosities but important clues. They suggest that humanity may have been observing the same multidimensional reality through different cultural lenses. Just as different scientific disciplines examine the same universe from different perspectives, the world's spiritual traditions may each illuminate different regions of a shared Cosmic Map. This does not suggest that every religion teaches exactly the same thing, nor does it ignore the genuine differences between their beliefs and practices. Instead, it proposes that beneath the diversity of language lies a common architecture of reality—one that humanity has been exploring for thousands of years through revelation, contemplation, mystical experience, Indigenous knowledge, and philosophical inquiry. If this perspective is correct, then the Cosmic Map is far more than a comparison of religions. It becomes a framework for understanding humanity's collective exploration of consciousness and our place within a living, multidimensional universe. Rather than asking which tradition possesses the complete map, perhaps the more fruitful question is how each tradition contributes another piece to humanity's unfolding understanding of reality.
- Different Languages, One Reality? Exploring the Common Foundations of the World's Spiritual Traditions
One of the most fascinating discoveries to emerge from my recent research has been the remarkable degree of agreement that exists between many of the world's religions, spiritual traditions, and mystical philosophies. While these traditions have developed independently across different cultures, continents, and thousands of years of history, they often appear to describe the same underlying reality using different languages, symbols, and cultural frameworks. The more I compare these traditions, the more I am convinced that humanity has not been describing different universes, but different perspectives of the same multidimensional reality. This realisation first emerged during the writing of Designing Heavens. My intention was to explore how different religions and spiritual traditions understood the nature of heaven, spiritual realms, and life beyond the physical world. What began as a comparison of beliefs soon became an exploration of remarkable similarities. Christianity describes multiple heavens populated by angels and saints. Islam speaks of successive levels of Paradise. Hinduism describes the Lokas, Buddhism the Pure Lands, while Indigenous traditions speak of Spirit Worlds and the Dreaming. Ancient philosophers wrote of higher planes of existence, and mystical traditions across the world describe states of divine union and expanded consciousness. Although the names, imagery, and cultural expressions differ, many of these traditions describe a layered reality inhabited by intelligent beings and accessible through spiritual development or altered states of consciousness. Rather than seeing these traditions as contradicting one another, I began to wonder whether they were each describing different aspects of the same cosmic landscape. Every culture naturally interprets profound experiences through its own language, history, and worldview. Just as different cultures have developed different names for the stars while observing the same night sky, perhaps religions and spiritual traditions have developed different descriptions for the same spiritual realities. Each tradition contributes an important piece of the puzzle, preserving insights gained through generations of contemplation, revelation, mystical experience, and lived wisdom. This observation has become one of the central foundations of my current work, The Science of the Divine Field. Rather than asking which religion is correct, the book explores a different question altogether: what if they are all attempting to explain the same underlying reality? Science has repeatedly shown that seemingly unrelated phenomena often prove to be different expressions of the same underlying principles. Electricity and magnetism were once thought to be separate forces until they were unified. Space and time were once considered independent until Einstein demonstrated that they form a single fabric of reality. Likewise, the diverse spiritual traditions of humanity may represent different ways of understanding a single multidimensional universe. The Science of the Divine Field proposes that many traditions are describing what I refer to as the Cosmic Map. This map is not a physical chart of locations, but a framework describing higher planes of consciousness, spiritual dimensions, and the beings that inhabit them. Every tradition illuminates part of this map. Some focus on the structure of the higher realms, others on the journey of the soul, others on spiritual beings, moral development, or humanity's relationship with the sacred. No single tradition appears to contain the complete picture, yet together they reveal remarkable patterns that become increasingly difficult to dismiss as coincidence. This has naturally led to the development of what I call Fourth-Level Science. Traditionally, science has focused on the observable physical world, while religion and spirituality have explored subjective and transcendent experience. Increasingly, however, these boundaries are becoming less distinct. Neuroscience investigates meditation and altered states of consciousness. Psychology studies mystical and transformative experiences. Anthropology documents spiritual practices across cultures. Researchers investigate near-death experiences, shared death experiences, out-of-body experiences, and exceptional human experiences. Although interpretations differ, the experiences themselves often display striking similarities regardless of culture, nationality, or religious belief. Perhaps this should not surprise us. If consciousness is capable of interacting with realities beyond ordinary awareness, then people from different parts of the world may naturally report similar experiences, even though they explain them using different cultural languages. A Christian may describe an angel, a Buddhist a bodhisattva, a Hindu a deva, and an Indigenous Elder an ancestral spirit. While the terminology differs, each person may be attempting to describe an encounter with an intelligent presence beyond the physical world. Likewise, descriptions of unity, unconditional love, timelessness, expanded awareness, and interconnectedness appear repeatedly throughout the world's spiritual literature, suggesting that these experiences may reflect universal aspects of human consciousness rather than isolated cultural inventions. None of this suggests that every religion teaches exactly the same thing, nor does it diminish the richness and uniqueness of each tradition. Every religion carries its own history, practices, theology, ethical teachings, and cultural identity that deserve to be appreciated in their own right. However, beneath these differences there appears to be a common architecture—a shared framework that humanity has been exploring for millennia. The world's wisdom traditions may therefore be understood not as competing explanations of reality, but as complementary perspectives, each offering valuable insights into a much larger whole. For me, this is one of the most exciting frontiers of modern inquiry. It represents an opportunity to bring together science, philosophy, psychology, religious studies, Indigenous knowledge, and lived spiritual experience into a genuinely interdisciplinary conversation. Rather than dividing humanity according to belief systems, this approach seeks to identify the common patterns that unite them. It asks us to consider that beneath our different languages, symbols, and traditions, humanity may have been observing the same reality all along. Whether this emerging picture ultimately proves correct remains an open question, and one that deserves careful, respectful, and evidence-informed exploration. Yet the growing convergence between religious traditions, consciousness research, and the study of exceptional human experiences suggests that we may be entering a new era of understanding. If so, the future of spirituality may not lie in choosing between science and religion, but in recognising that both have been exploring different dimensions of the same extraordinary universe.

- A Global Capacity Assessment: A New Way to Plan the Future
For more than a century, governments and economists have measured progress using financial indicators. Every year, we ask the same familiar questions. How fast is the economy growing? Is inflation rising? What is GDP? Is the budget in surplus or deficit? What is the unemployment rate? These measures have become the standard way of judging whether an economy is succeeding or failing. These statistics are important, but they tell only part of the story. They measure the movement of money through the economy, but they tell us very little about the productive capacity of civilisation itself. Do they not answer one of the most important questions humanity can ask: What are we actually capable of providing? Perhaps the twenty-first century needs another way of measuring progress. Imagine if, alongside traditional economic reports, the world produced an annual Global Capacity Assessment. Rather than asking only how much wealth has been created, it would ask a different question: What is humanity capable of providing? Instead of focusing primarily on financial performance, the assessment would measure our collective capacity to provide the essentials that people need to live healthy, productive and meaningful lives. The report would assess every major asset that supports civilisation. It would examine our capacity to produce food, supply clean water, generate energy, build housing, provide healthcare, educate future generations, transport people and goods, deliver digital infrastructure, manufacture essential products and protect the natural environment. For each area, it would ask the same simple questions. What does humanity need? What can humanity currently provide? Where are the gaps? What investments are required to close them? The purpose of the assessment would not simply be to collect statistics. It would become one of humanity's most important planning tools. For example, suppose the assessment found that humanity already produces enough food to feed more than the current global population, yet millions of people remain hungry because food is wasted or poorly distributed. The solution would no longer be simply producing more food. Instead, governments and international organisations could focus on improving storage, transport, logistics and access so that existing production reaches the people who need it most. The same principle applies to energy. If the assessment showed that the world has sufficient electricity generation overall but lacks transmission infrastructure and energy storage, investment priorities would become much clearer. Rather than concentrating solely on building additional power stations, governments could focus on modernising electricity grids, expanding battery storage and improving the reliability of energy distribution. Housing provides another example. If global construction capacity is sufficient to eliminate housing shortages over time, then attention could shift towards planning systems, land availability, financing, workforce development and better coordination of construction. The challenge would become organising existing capacity more effectively rather than assuming the world simply cannot build enough homes. Healthcare could also benefit from this approach. If the assessment revealed that the greatest global constraint is not hospital funding but a shortage of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals, governments could invest more heavily in education, training and workforce development. Long-term planning could replace short-term crisis management. This is what makes a Global Capacity Assessment so valuable. It transforms information into action. Rather than simply describing today's problems, it identifies where tomorrow's investments will have the greatest impact. It helps governments understand not only what exists today, but what will be required in the future. Over time, the assessment could become increasingly predictive rather than merely descriptive. Instead of measuring only today's capacity, it could project humanity's needs over the next ten, twenty or even fifty years. It could estimate future population growth, energy demand, water security, climate resilience, housing requirements, healthcare workforce needs, transport infrastructure, food production and the computing capacity required to support an increasingly digital and AI-driven world. Governments, businesses, researchers and international organisations would gain a shared understanding of where civilisation is heading and what investments are needed long before shortages emerge. Rather than reacting to crises after they occur, they could work together to anticipate future challenges and build the capacity required to meet them. This represents a different philosophy of economics. For centuries, economics has largely been concerned with allocating scarce resources. A Global Capacity Assessment begins from a different starting point. It recognises that humanity has spent generations building extraordinary productive capacity and asks how that capacity can best be organised to meet human needs. Money would remain an essential tool. Markets would continue to encourage innovation, entrepreneurship and efficient allocation of resources. Budgets, GDP, inflation and unemployment would still matter. But they would no longer be the only measures of progress. Alongside financial indicators would stand a measure of civilisation itself. The Global Capacity Assessment would measure humanity's ability to feed itself, power itself, house itself, educate itself, care for itself and prepare for the future. It would remind us that the true wealth of civilisation is not found only in financial markets or national budgets, but in our collective capacity to provide the essentials that allow people to live healthy, productive and meaningful lives. Perhaps that is the question the twenty-first century should be asking. Not simply, "How much wealth are we creating?" but, "Given everything humanity is capable of producing, are we organising our civilisation well enough to ensure that everyone can benefit?" That is not simply an economic question. It is one of the defining questions about the future of civilisation itself.
- Why the World Needs a Global Capacity Report
Every year the world measures itself through financial statistics. Governments publish budgets, GDP figures, inflation rates, unemployment figures, productivity reports, trade balances, debt levels and government deficits. International organisations compare economic growth, investment and financial performance between nations. These measures are valuable because they tell us how money is flowing through the global economy. However, they tell us surprisingly little about something that may be even more important. They do not tell us what humanity is actually capable of providing. Perhaps it is time to introduce a new measure of civilisation: a Global Capacity Report. Rather than focusing primarily on money, a Global Capacity Report would measure humanity's productive capacity. It would ask a simple but profound question: Does civilisation already possess the capacity to meet the essential needs of every person on Earth? The report would begin with food. How much food does humanity produce each year? How much food does the world's population actually require? How much food is wasted? Where are the shortages? Where should investment be directed to increase production or improve distribution? Rather than simply measuring the value of agricultural exports, the report would measure humanity's capacity to feed itself. The same approach would apply to water. How much clean water can the world's rivers, reservoirs, dams, desalination plants and recycling systems provide? How much water do households, agriculture and industry require? Which regions are approaching water stress, and where should new infrastructure be built? Instead of reacting to water crises, governments could plan decades in advance. Energy would be another essential measure. How much electricity and fuel can humanity generate? How much energy does the global economy actually require? Where are the transmission bottlenecks? Where is storage capacity insufficient? Where are new generation projects most needed? Rather than debating energy shortages after they occur, the report would identify future capacity requirements before they become crises. Housing could be measured in exactly the same way. How many homes does the world's population require? How many adequate homes already exist? How many additional homes must be built to meet future population growth? Which regions face the greatest shortages, and where does the construction industry have the capacity to expand? Healthcare would also become a measure of civilisation's productive capacity. How many doctors, nurses, hospital beds, aged-care places, mental health services and medicines are required to meet global demand? Which countries have shortages, and where should training and investment be prioritised? Instead of measuring healthcare primarily through expenditure, we would measure our capacity to care for people. The report could continue across every major asset that supports modern civilisation. Education, transport, digital infrastructure, manufacturing, communications, scientific research, environmental sustainability and emergency services could all be measured using the same framework. For every sector, the report would ask four simple questions: What does humanity need? What can humanity currently provide? Where are the gaps? What investments are required to close them? This would fundamentally change the way we think about progress. Today we often measure success by financial growth alone. Yet a growing economy does not necessarily mean that people have secure housing, reliable energy, accessible healthcare or nutritious food. A Global Capacity Report would complement traditional economic measures by asking whether civilisation is actually becoming better at meeting human needs. Imagine opening the report each year and seeing a global dashboard. It would show how much food humanity can produce compared with what is needed. It would measure global energy generation against projected demand. It would identify regions where water infrastructure requires investment, where housing shortages are emerging, where healthcare capacity is insufficient and where digital access remains limited. Rather than reacting to problems after they become emergencies, governments and international organisations could work together to address them before they escalate. Such a report would also encourage a new kind of international cooperation. Instead of asking which countries are becoming richer, we could ask where humanity's greatest capacity gaps exist. Nations with surplus expertise, technology or productive capacity could work alongside those experiencing shortages. The objective would not simply be economic growth but strengthening civilisation's collective ability to provide life's essentials. This represents a different philosophy of economics. Traditionally, economics has been described as the study of scarcity. A Global Capacity Report begins from a different premise. It recognises that humanity has spent centuries expanding its productive capacity and asks how that capacity can best be organised to meet human needs. Money would still play an important role. Markets would continue to encourage innovation, investment and efficiency. Budgets, GDP and inflation would remain valuable indicators of economic performance. But they would no longer be the only measures of progress. Alongside them would stand a measure of civilisation itself. The true wealth of humanity is not found only in bank accounts, stock markets or national income.
