"We are made of star stuff." - Carl Sagan.
Have you ever pondered the remarkable connection between the universe and your existence? Every element that forms our world has cosmic origins, from the air we breathe to the water that sustains us. It's a reminder that we are, quite literally, made of stardust.
Our journey begins with the awe-inspiring fact that all 118 classical elements in the periodic table, those building blocks of matter, come together in countless ways to shape the world around us. The air we rely on, mainly composed of nitrogen and oxygen, eventually transforms into the carbon dioxide we exhale. Water, the elixir of life, is a simple yet essential combination of hydrogen and oxygen.
But it doesn't stop there. The sugars and fats fuel our bodies consist of carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. Proteins, which give us structure and function, incorporate nitrogen and sulphur. Even the intricate process of methylation, which keeps our body's chemistry in balance, relies on methyl molecules made up of carbon and hydrogen.
Intriguingly, these five elements - carbon (C), hydrogen (H), oxygen (O), sulphur (S), energy (E), and nitrogen (N) - make up a staggering 96.5% of our bodies. We are woven from the essence of the cosmos, forging an undeniable connection to the universe itself. We are the CHOSEN People.
Carl Sagan beautifully said, "We are made of star stuff." Each breath, every heartbeat, and the complexity of our being echo the profound relationship between the universe and us, reminding us that we are truly the products of a cosmic dance that began eons ago.
